Your skin is your largest organ. It experiences natural wear and tear, exposure to the elements, and exposure to manmade products. Over time, skin requires rejuvenation in the form of skin rejuvenation treatments. Treatments can remove scars, reduce wrinkles, and create a consistent skin tone. Some people also have skin conditions from birth that can benefit from these treatments. Learn about the different skin treatments available to help you pick the right one for your unique skin.
Laser Skin Resurfacing
Laser skin resurfacing relies on laser technology to produce results. There are two different types of lasers: ablative lasers and non-ablative lasers. Ablative lasers dissolve the outer layer of skin to encourage new skin to develop in its place. Non-ablative lasers don't break the skin at all. Instead, they heat the lower layers of skin to encourage collagen growth. Ablative lasers work more quickly, but they come with more risks. Doctors offer a similar treatment that uses light instead of lasers that produce similar results to a lesser degree.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels require a trained professional to apply a chemical-based solution to the skin. They will remove over a period of time. For days, the skin will peel away. At the end of the process, new, refreshed skin takes the place of the skin layers that peeled off.
Chemical peels will cause irritation for a couple of days, but they are highly effective without surgery.
You can choose between a light peel made from glycolic acid, alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), salicylic acid, or a deep peel made from phenol, TCA, and croton.
Dermabrasion and Microdermabrasion
Dermabrasion and microdermabrasion scrub away dead, old skin using exfoliating tools or particles. While the least effective, dermabrasion works for all skin types, including sensitive skin. It can be added in conjunction with other procedures. Many people perform dermabrasion at home with exfoliating scrubs.
Microneedling
Your skin has its own natural healing abilities. Microneedling stimulates these healing practices by poking the skin with tiny needle points to create tiny holes invisible to the human eye. While it seems painful, patients report low levels of pain. It also doesn't remove old skin. Microneedling is appropriate for all skin types, and there's no downtime. Results are similar to dermabrasion.
Skin rejuvenation should be a regular part of your skincare routine. For serious problems, try a chemical peel or laser treatment. For minor touchups, consider dermabrasion or microneedling.

After my thirtieth birthday, I began to notice some unappealing signs of aging on my face. I started to see dark spots and fine lines. Because I wanted to turn back time, I researched non-invasive cosmetic procedures to help people look younger. I was immediately intrigued by microdermabrasion. I began getting microdermabrasion treatments regularly. After each treatment, my skin instantly looked smoother and more vibrant. Within a few weeks, the fine lines under my eyes and around my mouth became less noticeable. On this blog, I hope you will discover the most popular types of cosmetic treatments performed on patients today. Enjoy!
